Amazon.com Chick Corea and vibraphonist Gary Burton have a way of bringing out the best in one another. Native Sense, released in 1997, is in many ways the true sequel to their groundbreaking 1972 collaboration, Crystal Silence. Corea wrote several originals for the album, most of which share a Latin flavor. There are also a pair of improvisations on Bela Bartok's "Bagatelle" series and a version of Monk's "Four in One." The sound of the acoustic piano blends with the vibraphone and marimba to create a shimmeringly beautiful effect from which the music pours forth with unforced virtuosity. --Rick Mitchell
